The American Ornithological Society annual meeting for 2026 will be held in Amherst, Mass. This year’s theme, “Hope is the Thing with Feathers,” is inspired by the poem by Emily Dickinson.
The official conference collection was created through a collaboration between American Ornithological Society and Bird Collective. The main logo features a Black-capped Chickadee (Poecile atricapillus), an American Woodcock (Scolopax minor), and a Prairie Warbler (Setophaga discolor)—species that reflect the avian diversity of Amherst.
Ordering and fulfillment will be handled by Bird Collective through their website. The official hat is still in production and will be available mid-June. If you’re interested in purchasing a hat, we recommend you wait to place your order until after the hat becomes available to avoid extra shipping fees.
Please place your orders by 25 July 2026 to receive your items before our meeting.
Please order early for best selection. We do not plan to sell merchandise at the meeting unless we have items leftover from our preliminary print run.

This is pigment dyed, which gives a soft, washed, vintage look with slight variations in color. The pigment fades a bit with repeated washing, giving a lived-in feel that we love.
Avoid using bleach, harsh detergents, and hot water. For best results, turn the garment inside-out and wash with cold water and mild detergent, with like colors. Colors may bleed in first wash.
